What were once surfaces for schools are now becoming very popular in homes – chalkboards and white or dry-erase boards.
A variety of paints are available today that add whimsy and playfulness to a kitchen, office, children’s room or just about any place in the home.
Chalkboard paint has been used for several years in the home for small areas or for a whole wall. They come in a large variety of colors to add fashion as well as function.
Benjamin Moore’s ben® Chalkboard Paint comes in thousands of colors in a zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Krylon Tintable Chalkboard Paint is available in 250 colors in various color families that are both classic and “unexpected”.
Not only are these paints attractive on walls but they can also be used in novelty ways. According to Krylon, “Layer an unexpected surprise in your daily routine. Personalizing a classic medicine cabinet or upcycling the neglected planter with fun and vibrant colors is a best way to usher in a positive energy in your home.”
Another paint that has become increasingly popular is the dry-erase or white board ones. Installation of these paints is different than for the chalkboard paint. It is a two part process that must be completed in around 4 hours or the paint becomes unusable.
Benjamin Moore’s® Notable® Dry Erase Paint comes in clear and white paint. This is available in 50-, 100- and 200- square feet kits and comes with a 10-year warranty. It is CHPS/CDPHv1.1 emission certified and qualifies for LEED® v4 low-emitting materials credit. Kits include two pre-measured components, roller cover and application instructions.
