Real Estate Industry News

In these strange COVID-19 times we are living in, the real estate market in Tahoe is blazing hot. According to Bill Dietz, owner of Tahoe Luxury Properties, there are currently only six lakefront homes available for sale, in contrast to the usual 20 or so each summer season. The most luxurious of all is McKinney Lodge Lakefront Estate, which just went on the market for $32 million, including everything inside this gorgeous ultra-custom home, from the innumerable bespoke furniture and interior-design details right down to the beverages in the fridge.

Final details of this brand-new property, which were slowed by supply chain delays during the pandemic, are now in place. Set on 1.87 level acres with a vast 225-feet of lake frontage, this home has 8,106 square feet, two master bedroom suites, four bedroom suites, three additional half-bathrooms, and several outdoor living and entertainment venues.

There’s a deep-water pier, two buoys, a large slate patio with an oversized hot tub, two gas fire pits, and a 1960s-era treehouse. (The treehouse is a kid’s ultimate paradise.) The outdoor crown jewel might just be the cabana with a sink, dishwasher, grill, 49-inch TV, and sound system.

Its next-door neighbor is the historic Fleur du Lac property you might recall as the backdrop for the movie The Godfather: Part II in 1973. McKinney Lodge is set on McKinney Bay, a cove-like spot on the West shore of Lake Tahoe that offers a twist on the straight-ahead view of the East Shore. This house is oriented toward the midpoint between the East and South shores, so the view encompasses the South Shore, as well, — and a bonus is that this orientation buffers this house from typical afternoon winds. Nearby is Sugar Pine Point State Park, not to mention West Shore Market, one of the newer and better grocery stores in the Lake Tahoe region.

Inside McKinney Lakefront Lodge, the vibe is paradoxically decadent/luxe and comfy/cozy, a difficult feat to pull off. Constructed by Loverde Builders over 20 months, this home has left no detail unconsidered. Designed by architect Dale Cox, the home has hand-scraped hickory floors, alder doors and trim, Hunter Metal custom ironwork, Ashley Norton hardware, Hammerton lighting on a Lutron system, Loewen doors and a Savant premium home automation system.

The lake-facing chef’s kitchen is designed for entertaining, with two refrigerators, freezers and dishwashers, a walk-in pantry, and a 125-bottle wine storage unit. There’s a six-burner Wolf stove topped an artist-commissioned custom hood. There are two 270-degree lakeview bathtubs, with steam showers and industrial-chic Watermark Masters plumbing fixtures.

The two grand-master bedrooms have lake views for miles. Indoor and out, this exclusive property is a rare turnkey offering from TLUXP, and it will excite the most discerning of buyers.

The three-car garage has hydronic heat, and the sale also includes entitlements for a separate two-bedroom, two bath, 1,952 square-foot guest house with two-car garage. Learn more at TLUXP.com or by calling 1-800-581-8828.
