Rather than mums, these designs for mums just may include lily of the valley, peonies and/or lilac, Thompson says. “Lily of the valley blooms wild at this time of year, and the local farmers tend to gather it from the woods and sell these gloriously-scented stems at the greenmarket,” she says.
“I love a proliferating foraged bloom. I also find lilac to be most lovely. And while a bit obvious, this is prime peony season. My favorites are the deep claret-hued Buckeye Belle or the pale buttery Clair de Lune.”
Tailored arrangements
Cape Advisors, developer of the one-year-old, full-block condominum fronting on Warren, Church and Chambers Streets, opted to add a partnership with a floral designer to its Tribeca Select offerings based on the spirit of the enclave.
The building “was designed with an artisanal spirit to reflect the essence of Tribeca,” says David Kronman, president and partner at Cape Advisors. “We wanted to create a true sense of place where residents could instantly feel immersed into the neighborhood, which led us to developing Tribeca Select, a short cut to the very best of Tribeca living . . . The idea to partner with a floral designer for Tribeca Select came naturally. Many of our residences have terraces and all of them have generous living and entertaining spaces. So we felt the design created the ideal setting for greenery and flowers. Knowing our residents, and their interest in design and materials, it made sense to offer them floral consultation for their homes, as customized flower arrangements can bring out unique architecture and design elements in a residence.”
As 30 Warren’s resident floral advisor, Thompson offers floral consultations in residents’ homes, as well as event design and flower arrangements tailored to each residential space. Among extras enjoyed by residents are discounted prices on floral consultation, gift arrangements and distinctive seasonal selections.
Thompson brings vast experience to her role, having decked the halls of the Obama White House at holiday time, launched fashion week for Chanel and delivered blossoming cheer to the homes of celebrities.
