See Inside The $99,000 Per Month Apartment At 220 Central Park South

The beginning of the year saw this building set the highest U.S. public sale of all time (an approximately $238 million penthouse to billionaire Ken Griffin) and now that we’re nearing the end of 2019 the same building is close to having one of the most expensive rentals currently on the market for New York City. Asking $99,000 per month (which works out to $1.18 million per year), this 4-bed, 4.5 bath rental overlooking Central Park has been recently renovated and redesigned by Brazilian architect Bick Simonato. The building, 220 Central Park South, was designed by A.M. Stern Architects and is home to a few other notable names, including Sting and Trudie Styler and their $65.75 million unit and a few members of Forbes’ Billionaire List including Daniel Och, Renata de Camargo Nascimento and Eric Smidt.

With a total of 3,703 square feet the unit comes furnished and has more than 70 linear feet of views looking over Central Park as well as a rare three Juliet balconies in the living room. Three sets of full-glass double doors allow for abundant natural light while discreet valances that blend in with the wall color provide a place for curtains to hang subtly if you don’t want all the light streaming in.

The kitchen comes with marble countertops, two sinks, two ovens, two dishwashers, a SubZero fridge and Miele appliances including a special wok burner on the stove. Christofle silverware is included with the deal.

Three of the four bedrooms are strategically placed at the corners to maximize the views with their floor-to-ceiling windows.

The master bedroom has a dressing room, in addition to the two walk-in closets, that could be used as a small office.

The master bathroom has an enclosed steam shower, a Jacob Delafon tub, with a scalloped marble surround, double sinks, an enclosed Toto Neorest toilet and radiant heated floors (all the bathrooms have heated floors).

As for the lifestyle, residents have access to an 82-foot saltwater pool, sauna and steam rooms, fitness center, squash and basketball courts, a golf simulator room, yoga studio and private spa treatment rooms. There is also a residents-only restaurant by Jean George.

While this unit wouldn’t break a rental record if it finds a tenant at this price, it would certainly land comfortably in the upper stratosphere. Its biggest competition is this $500,000 per month full-floor unit in The Pierre Hotel listed by Corcoran.
