Architect Rafael Viñoly is known for designing the tallest residential structure in the Western Hemisphere, though one of his more modest, but rare, homes in Connecticut has come on the market for $9.75 million.

The home was constructed of 350 pre-cast concrete panels brought from Toronto and attached to a 35-ton steel frame.

The Uruguayan Viñoly, behind skyscrapers such as the residential 432 Park Avenue and commercial 20 Fenchurch Street in London, designed the Ridgefield home in 1990 for Alice Lawrence, the wife of the late New York real estate mogul Sylvan Lawrence. Sylvan died in 1981 and Alice died in 2008.

The home has three bedrooms, walls of glass and a rooftop observation deck.

Viñoly designed the glass, concrete and steel structure to take advantage of the hilltop location and to house Lawrence’s art collection, says listing agent Laura Freed Ancona of William Pitt Julia B Fee Sotheby’s International Realty.
"It almost looks like a museum," Freed Ancona says.
