With rolling hills, forests and lakes, the King City community of Ontario, Canada, is prime cattle and horse farm country. Yet it’s only 50 kilometers, or about 30 miles, north of the provincial capital of Toronto.

This 76-acre estate is representative of the crème de la crème of equestrian properties in the area.

The mostly flat property includes a sprawling main house sited to take in valley views, stables and a riding arena. The estate is equipped for those who may want to indulge in a serious hobby, show horses or breed them.

MORE FOR YOU

Lush landscaping lines the gated entrance to the driveway, which terminates at a fountain outside the entry. A steeply gabled cedar roof with dormer windows tops the natural stone façade.

Wide etched sidelights flank the front door, which opens to a high-ceiling foyer. Opposite the entrance is a bank of windows that frame the outdoors and enclose a staircase with wrought-iron railings. The stairs descend to the lower level.

Formal rooms include a wood-paneled living room with a double-sided marble fireplace, a wood waffle ceiling and hardwood floors. A pocket door opens to the bedroom wing.

The formal dining room can easily accommodate a table for 10.

The center-island kitchen opens to an informal dining area with a stone fireplace. Banks of floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light. The space flows into a sitting area with a deck. Built-in storage and shelves surround yet another fireplace.

A library, a wine cellar and a game room are among other living spaces.

The primary bedroom suite features dual walk-in closets, a sitting room and beamed ceilings. The room has a double-sided wood-burning fireplace and opens to a terrace.

There’s also an alternate primary suite. An apartment off the foyer has a separate entrance for a total of eight bedrooms and 14 bathrooms.

The lower level of the house contains an indoor pool, sauna and an exercise room.

Lawn at the back of the house gently slopes down to a kidney-shaped swimming pool. Flower beds and lampposts create a garden setting for the pool.

The manicured green lawn continues in the riding areas, which are surrounded by white rail fencing. A pond and mature trees add to the bucolic setting.

The massive barn contains a riding arena, which could be converted to an indoor ice rink. It also includes horse stalls, a tack room, a manager’s office and an upper-level lounge to watch the action in the riding area below.
