As real estate finds its sea legs again in the wake of Covid, luxury listings are still testing the waters for what the market will bear. The latest top-of-the market listing for the high-end neighborhood of Holmby Hills has come to the listing service with an asking price of $69.95 million—one of the most expensive listings to publicly enter the market in the past three months. A few years ago it had been asking $88 million, and came down to its current asking price last year but was temporarily removed from the listing service this winter until making its return earlier this summer. Located on the same street where media personality Kylie Jenner bought a $36.5 million mansion a few months ago (down from its $55 million asking price), this 31,000 square foot new build on 1.18 acres has some of the largest interior square footage in Los Angeles.
It is about a thousand square feet bigger than the Disney Estate and only about two thousand square feet smaller than The Manor—another Holmby Hills estate famously built for Aaron and Candy Spelling, then owned by Petra Ecclestone who sold it for what was temporarily a record price of $119.75 million. The largest house in Los Angeles is said to be the The One a 120,000 square feet, but most of the other estates in this category come in between 30-45,000 square feet.
Above is the back of the six-bedroom, 11-bath house, with a view into the different living spaces that have an indoor/outdoor set-up, including a fireplace-adorned living room that opens to the outdoors (see the close-up below). Heading indoors, one of the home’s main features is the industrial-style kitchen by luxury European designer Bulthaup.
The lower level has a restaurant-sized bar adjacent to a casual entertaining area.
The wine cellar, with bookmatched stone, can hold 3,400 bottles.
The lower level has an indoor lap pool.
The three-tiered panel movie theater has room for both couch and lounge chair seating.
Here is the covered living room that feels like it is outdoors, with a fireplace and overhead heaters in case it gets cold.
The main bedroom suite is almost 3,000 square feet with a fireplace in the bedroom and bathroom.
The bathroom has an antique-style fireplace surround against the white backdrop.
Here’s a look at the backyard again, this time with the outdoor pool visible.
The home’s amenities number in the dozens: state-of-the-art technology controls, a salon, massage room, two changing rooms, sauna, spa dining room, Crossfit-style gym, three commercial-grade elevators, staff suite, guest house with separate entrance, motor court paved in imported stone, entrances from either side street and a security guard house.
