Rich people pamper their dogs. Oprah’s five dogs travel with her everywhere—limousines, vacations, etc. Paris Hilton’s dogs (a $13,000 Pomeranian pooch named “Prince” included) chill in their own two-story air-conditioned doggie mansion with a terrace, chandelier and designer furniture. Barbra Streisand’s dogs (“Mrs. Violet” and “Mrs. Scarlett”) are both are $50,000 clones (each!) of her beloved late pooch “Sammie.” This isn’t just a Hollywood thing. It’s everywhere.
Miami’s Oceana Bal Harbour pounced on this puppy love trend, tossing its dog-loving condo owners a delicious bone—access to its new 5-star pet grooming spa for top 1% pooches. With condos ranging roughly from $3.9 million to $19.85 million ($35 million for the penthouse), residents can easily foot the bill for this adorable amenity.
Here, Rex can indulge in doggy massages, deep fur conditioning, “pawdicures,” Yappy Hour, sun bathing, and fashion shoots by the property’s Jeff Koons art sculptures “Seated Ballerina” and “Pluto Proserpina.” Put simply, this condo is a dog’s, I mean dog lover’s dream.
For the four-footed spa’s premiere, the luxury condominium extended first-class pamper invitations to South Florida’s most popular pup influencers—Remix the Dog, Puck the Pup and Mallow the Frenchie. These VIPups didn’t disappoint, soaking up their fame and mugging for cameras along the way.
Remix, the bespectacled miniature schnauzer with 128,000 Instagram followers, relishes fame, travel, dessert posing, and fashion shoots (Santa hats, Hawaiian shirts, sweaters, etc.). Puck the Pup is a golden retriever with 12,000 Instagram followers, who enjoys the beach, swimming, sprinklers, and popsicles.
Mallow the Frenchie is called Miami’s “snaggletooth queen”—a fun, quirky French bulldog with 53,000 Instagram followers, an insatiable wanderlust and a penchant for all things luxury. All three dogs crave the spotlight.
They chose the right spa. Like Oprah’s dogs, these high-maintenance pups got the celebrity treatment—making their grand paparazzi entrance (courtesy of doormen) under the porte-cochère, posing for photos before hitting the spa. The social media dog darlings were spotted relaxing in doggy robes with cucumber water, cooling eyes masks, and soothing aromas in the waiting room. No joke.
Oceana Bal Harbour’s pet grooming spa offers the works—soothing baths with organic shampoo, conditioner, blow dry, brush out, teeth brushing, nail trim, ear cleaning, organic cologne, and a bandana or bowtie. The influencer pups had the option of a full haircut and hair style with hand scissoring. Do you doubt they could tell the difference? Look at them.
Other services include doggie massages, exfoliating mud baths, salt baths, color specific shampoos, de-shedding treatments, and de-matting treatments. And then there’s the Pawdicure Party with an assortment of nail polishes.
These high-maintenance pooches ended their “me day” sunbathing during Yappy Hour by the new Piero Lissoni-designed, resident-only restaurant Ballerina. It’s a good thing dogs are a human’s “best friend”—otherwise, their owners might get jealous. If they do, residents can pamper themselves in the tower’s luxurious human spa amenities.
Designed by Arquitectonica, Oceana Bal Harbour is one of South Florida’s elite addresses, where residents can create their own 5-star experience without leaving the premises. The condo is home to prominent business, art and investment moguls—Eduardo Costantini (Oceana Bal Harbour developer); Jorge A. Riquelme (Paraguayan business tycoon); Phillip H. and Nancy Resnick (auto magnates/philanthropists); Mark Notkin (Fidelity); Paul Rakowski (Accenture); Amy DiGeso (Estée Lauder); and Tom Mendoza (NetApp).
But for one day, this place was for the dogs.
