Jenny Craig Finds Buyer For Beachfront Compound, Nearing Top Of Price Records For San Diego

After five years on the market, the just-closed sale of a 7,625-square-foot home in the Del Mar region of San Diego goes to Jenny Craig, founder of the eponymous weight loss company. The home was first put up for sale in 2014 for $39.5 million and came down in price several times, most recently to $27 million in March of this year. The sale closed this week for $22 million. Despite its 44% price reduction the home still comes in near the top of the highest-priced home sales for Del Mar and all of San Diego County. It is also the highest-priced sale in over a decade. The highest priced sale on record is a 10,000-square-foot $48.2 million home that sold in 2007. After that is a $28 million home measuring 5,000 square feet that also sold in 2007. Then, according to public records, comes the sale of Craig’s property, a five-bed, seven-bath compound built around a central pool.

Its compound-like structure, plus the eighty feet of beach frontage, can be seen from this drone shot.

The two-story house is designed to blend in with the outdoors, with most of the main living spaces oriented towards the series of glassy double doors that face the ocean. Here’s the dining room.

The kitchen is technically indoors but has immediate access to the outside that is feels like it is an outdoor kitchen. The weather-resilient floor tiles make a nice transition between the exterior courtyard and the more interior rooms.
