Russell Peters is looking to leave his landlord responsibilities behind in Malibu. The comedian-actor’s ocean-view estate, which is now tenant-occupied until 2023, is back up for sale at $7.995 million.
There’s plenty to like about the coastal abode, which spans 10,000 square feet on 1.35 acres. Past a gated driveway and porte-cochère, the home opens through double doors to a grand chandelier-topped foyer.

Candy Spelling is making waves in the real estate scene once more. After her former estate in Bel-Air set a new California record by selling for $119.75 million, the socialite has listed her waterfront mansion in Malibu for sale at $23 million.
Spelling shared the home for decades with her husband, prolific TV producer Aaron Spelling, until his death in 2006.
Enjoying 81 feet of water frontage on La Costa Beach, the brick-clad abode offers a markedly different feel from its coastal neighbors.
Past a stately courtyard entry, it opens to more than 8,000 square feet of limestone floors, crown molding and other custom details. The center-island kitchen features rich wood cabinetry and granite countertops. Picture windows and glass doors found throughout frame ocean views.

Spelling’s former home, the Manor in Holmby Hills, is one of the most iconic estates in L.A. County. Nicknamed “Candyland” during her ownership, the W-shaped chateau is larger than the White House, clocking in at 56,500 square feet. She sold the property in 2011 to British heiress Petra Ecclestone for $85 million.

As the NBA and NHL seasons near, two of L.A.’s newest head coaches are getting settled into their new surroundings.
Kings head coach Todd McClellan and Lakers head coach Frank Vogel have purchased homes in Manhattan Beach for about $6.77 million and $5.35 million, respectively.

McClellan’s house, described as a combination of a “N.Y. loft meets modern farmhouse,” has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms and more than 6,300 square feet of space.
The three-story floor plan includes formal living and dining rooms, an office, an open-plan kitchen, a family room and an elevator. The lower level is dedicated to entertaining and has a wet bar and a game room. Sliding barn doors conceal a home theater.
Vogel’s home, built new this year, weighs in with five bedrooms, seven bathrooms and nearly 4,900 square feet of living space. Features include white wainscoting, beamed ceilings and a center-island kitchen. There are fireplaces in the living room and master bedroom as well as the patio. An elevator serves each floor.
McLellan, 51, in April signed a five-year contract to become the head coach of the Kings. His previous head coaching stops include stints with the Edmonton Oilers and the San Jose Sharks. He also led the Canadian team to a gold-medal finish in the 2015 World Championships and coached the North American team in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Vogel, 46, has been coaching in the NBA since 2001, serving in assistant roles with the Celtics, 76ers and Wizards before becoming the Pacers head coach in 2011. After six seasons with the Pacers and two with the Magic, he was named the Lakers head coach in May.

Grand traditional remains golden
The onetime home of Golden Age film star Tyrone Power has come on the market in Brentwood for $11.995 million.
The Georgian traditional-style home, built in 1937, was designed by architect Paul R. Williams for singer Grace Moore and her husband, Spanish actor Valentín Parera, according to the Paul R. Williams Project. Moore and Parera never lived in the home, however, and Power and his wife, Annabella, purchased it the same year it was built.
Fenced and gated from the street, the classic two-story sits on more than an acre dotted with gardens and mature trees. Brick siding, thin columns and a half-moon portico are among character details. An ornate frontispiece creates visual interest above the front door.
Beyond the entry, some 5,600 square feet of living space includes a living room with a fireplace, a formal dining room, an enclosed lanai, seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The paneled den features an oval pub room. Two upstairs terraces take in city-to-ocean views.
A guesthouse and sprawling fields make up the grounds.
The Brentwood house is one of two Williams-designed homes owned by Power. In the late 1940s, Power commissioned the architect to design a residence in Bel-Air, according to the Paul R. Williams Project.
Power, who died in 1958 at 44, gained fame in 1936 with his breakout performance in “Lloyd’s of London” and by the late 1930s was the second-biggest male box office star, after Mickey Rooney. Known for his magnetic looks and charisma on screen, Power is remembered for his roles in “Jesse James” (1939), “The Mark of Zorro” (1940) and “The Razor’s Edge” (1946).

Padre to head east during offseason
San Diego Padres slugger Manny Machado has swung for the fences in the Sunshine State, shelling out $11.3 million for a waterfront mansion in Coral Gables, Fla.
It’s a massive sum, but only about half of the property’s original asking price of $22 million.
For Machado, a four-time All-Star, the purchase is more or less putting his new contract to good use. After playing out last season with the Dodgers, Machado inked a 10-year deal with the Padres earlier this year worth $300 million. At the time, it was the largest free-agent contract in the history of North American sports.
Claiming an acre in the gated community of Tahiti Beach, the property overlooks Biscayne Bay and has 121 feet of private frontage. The 8,300-square-foot home sits at the end of a sprawling field framed by palm trees.
Typical for luxury listings in the Miami area, the home is a sleek mix of tile floors, crisp white walls and glass — lots and lots of glass. Angled skylights brighten the chef’s kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling windows bring water views into nearly every room.
Six bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms include a master suite with a rounded lounge, office and bathroom with a spa tub. A glass elevator navigates the three-story floor plan.
Outside, there’s a custom swimming pool with a triangular spa, waterfront lounges and a covered poolside patio.
