Gwen Stefani Sells ‘Kaleidoscope’ Home At 60% Discount As Sales Finally Return To This Beverly Hills Neighborhood

Until September things had been slow all year in the part of Beverly Hills known as Beverly Hills Post Office. Only two homes had sold in the first eight months of the year, compared to a total of nine that had sold in the equivalent time frame the year before. But then the end of summer rolled around and three homes sold within about a month of each other as though they had been planning it. Two of them were some of the neighborhood’s highest-profile listings, including a 15,000-square-foot house owned by entertainer Gwen Stefani. The other was the spec mansion backed by billionaires Ian and Richard Livingstone (whom Forbes estimates have a combined a net worth of $6.5 billion) that entered the market for $46.5 million this spring, but closed on September 30 for $42.75 million. According to property records, that makes it the third highest-priced sale on record for the neighborhood.

Stefani’s seven-bed, ten-bath home originally listed for $35 million in 2017, came down in price to $29 million, then was re-listed for $24.9 million earlier this year and closed for $21.65 million on October 1. She purchased the home with her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale for $13.25 million in 2006 and proceeded to give it a colorful overhaul with the help of designer Kelly Wearstler (whose “kaleidoscope” flair and approach to design have graced these pages already, not to mention her work on Hollywood’s most expensive penthouse). According to the L.A. Times, the state’s mapping database places the home just over the line in Studio City, but its zip code (90210) and location along what is known as Beverly Crest make it locally known as being part of the exclusive BHPO enclave.

Here’s one of the living rooms with groovy lines in both the rug and the side tables adding a sense of flow to the room.

A less curvy sitting area still brings in a sense of movement with generous curtains and a waterfall-esque chandelier.

The main bedroom also has an ornate chandelier that could make the room feel like a posh nightclub in a moment’s notice. But yet there’s a fireplace (in the left foreground of the photo) that adds a touch of warmth. Tall glass doors open out to the backyard.

Another potential contender for the master bedroom is this corner room with a private glassed in porch.

That private porch serves a dual purpose of creating a space to add a skylight for the lower level.

A kids bedroom with a walk-in closet keeps with the eclectic decor theme.

And another youthfully designed bedroom blends bold colors with stripes.

But it’s not all splashes of color everywhere. You can take a Rorschach test when you go between floors.

And one of the bathrooms is pure black and white stripes.

But one of the main draws to the property, and this part of Beverly Hills, are the unobstructed views. Here you can see the backyard pool situated to look over the city.
