Fertility treatment is a stressful experience for most, but patients at Southern California Reproductive Center are likely to tell you that going into a chic and tranquil office can help the process feel a bit better. Located at 450 North Roxbury Drive in Beverly Hills, the medical practice has space on both the first and fifth floors and was designed by Belgian-born, Los Angeles based designer Maxime Jacquet

Dubbed “The Bad Boy Of Design” by Elle Decor, Jacquet renovated the office after designing the home of Dr. Shahin Ghadir, who is a founding partner of the practice as well as one of the top reproductive endocrinologists worldwide. Dr. Ghadir is also an assistant clinical professor in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and The Keck School of Medicine at USC.

He is highly sought out for egg freezing and recently launched a podcast on Dear Media called The Fertile Life. Dr. Ghadir has worked with a list of celebrities to help grow their families including Lance Bass and Michael Turchin, Jamie Chung, Mercedes Javid, and Scheana Shay.

The First Floor

MORE FOR YOU

The first floor of Southern California Reproductive Center in Beverly Hills is a stylish and cheerful place to wait for lab appointments and exams. It has a true “wow,” factor, explains Jacquet. “Having the opportunity to work with Dr. Ghadir at his personal residence in Beverly hills. I had a very clear understanding of the aesthetic he loves which is pure luxury and elegance in a very modern and high-end way. I wanted to design an office that would be crisp but warm at the same time. We wanted the patients to have that ‘wow’ factor as soon as they open the door and feel not only comfortable and inviting, but also unique and glamorous.”

With marble floors and a stunning gold-accented curved sofa, it feels more like a cool friend’s living room than a place to wait for an ultrasound. The seating is accented by pink coffee tables, decorated with infinity flower arrangements.

Every piece in the space was internationally chosen by Jacquet to create a mood. “I selected those sofas because they are the most relevant and adequate to the space available. Like many pieces of furniture in every place I design, everything is custom and tailored to the space. I have always been a huge fan of softly curved sofas that not only look chic but also feel like they are anchored with the architecture of the room.”

The beautiful art is another element of the design and includes two original acrylics on canvas works by Alexander Partman. There is a silver piece over the sofa and a large pink and gold painting that nearly runs the span of the hallway.

This office looks nothing like a standard medical office, even for Beverly Hills. “It’s not the norm, it is the exception,” explains Jacquet. “I believe this also reflects the attention and the quality of services they provide. They want the patients to feel good, to feel special. Even if we are in the Heart of Beverly Hills, they want to make the patient feel they are valued and they should feel taken care of in the best possible way starting with a very beautiful experience as soon as they walk in.”

This room is one of Dr. Ghadir’s favorite spaces in the office. “The white soothing color and the artwork which inspires love and a caring environment,” he tells me.

The Fifth Floor

The fifth floor has another waiting room as well as examination rooms and doctors’ offices. This waiting room is larger than the one on the first floor and features groups of tufted armless sofas, flower-shaped side tables, and a marble and gold coffee table. It also has a large original modern art piece by Daniel Maltzman. Custom window treatments and a beautiful view of the hills create an equally stylish and tranquil vibe.

Jacquet wanted this room to feel trendy and up to the moment, “Having worked with people around the world and designing properties for them, I have learned that the unexpected element is what makes the difference between a good design and a fantastic design! I’m always looking out for the next trend and always want to inspire people.”

Another noteworthy space on the fifth floor is the VIP room. This cozy spot has a “Hollywood Glam” vibe complete with a gray velvet sofa, a white and gold lacquer table as well as matching chairs. “The VIP room is the epitome of luxury, comfort, and ultimate design experience. It is all about feeling special, luxurious and also giving your sight some eye candy treatment. When you are in that room you feel like you are in a 5-star hotel. If any room screams luxury, it’s definitely the VIP room.”

As for giving his patients some of the best care they can receive, Dr. Ghadir believes his office’s design is a part of this. “Having an environment which is aesthetically pleasing and clean and organized always gives a higher level of calmness and tranquility which we try to achieve for our patients.”
