Less than an hour from mid-town Manhattan is this gabled Cape Cod style abode just listed by actor Bruce Willis and his wife Emma Heming for $12.95 million. They bought the property in 2014 for $12 million, but are making a move to the West Coast so they are ready to sell, though they will keep their Upper West Side condo they bought in 2018, according to the Wall Street Journal.Â
The sprawling 22.6 acre property over two lots contains a number of different buildings, including the 9,000 square foot gated main house built in 2009 with five bedrooms and an octagonal aerie with near-360 degree views of the Croton Reservoir. Another of the buildings on the land is a 3-bedroom antique farmhouse that has been given modern upgrades but still has vaulted wooden beamed ceilings and the cozier feel you would expect of any self-respecting New England farmhouse. The remaining buildings are also places for guest or staff to stay to create a total of 12 bedrooms and at least 12 bathrooms on the property. A pool house near the salt water pool is also on the land.
There are a few movie star touches, such as the drop down movie screen in a living room/home office.
Even though it has a Cape Cod shingled exterior some of the interiors have a more Craftsman feel. Here is the elongated master bedroom that opens to a private porch at the far end of the room.
The kitchen reinvents the definition of ‘farmhouse kitchen’ with an indoor fireplace surrounded by stacked stone and use of the square motif in floor tiles, window frames and cabinet paneling. Arts & Crafts style drawer pulls tie everything back to the Craftsman feel of the house.
Each room is designed to have great views as this close up of one end of the kitchen shows. Two sets of French doors open out to the porch and side of the house.
The Willises are still raising their young kids, so the basement has a tumbling floor (or maybe that’s where Willis practices his moves for his next action film).
The house also comes with a wine cellar, attached and detached garage, tennis courts (though the listing states they need to be resurfaced) and acres of wooded land.Â
Here’s an overhead view to show you how huge the estate is.
