Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District is now accepting reservations
It’s not exactly an ideal time to open a new hotel, however Canopy by Hilton has doubled down this month with the opening of not one but two new hotels, including the Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District today.
The Jersey City hotel marks Canopy’s first outpost in the New York City metro area and was preceded by Canopy by Hilton Philadelphia which opened earlier this week.
“We look forward to introducing the Canopy by Hilton lifestyle to the Tri-State and immersing locals and guests in the burgeoning neighborhood of the Arts District,” Raviraj Dave, Managing Director and Principal at Three Wall Capital said in a statement. “We’re proud to finally deliver a hospitality product that speaks to the area’s urban sophistication and hope that our opening will serve a reprieve and bring joy to the neighborhood, signaling continued growth and investment in the community.”
Set within close proximity to Grove Street and the PATH Train, the 211-room hotel includes 13 suites and ten deluxe rooms and will offer interiors that are inspired by the local community and feature local textiles and artwork throughout.
While the hotel will feature Canopy Central Bar & Bistro offering local food and spirits including Misunderstood Whiskey, 902 Brewery and Corgi Spirits, a bevy of restaurants including perennially popular Razza, Edwards Steakhouse and this Jersey City local’s personal favorite, Ani Ramen which are currently open for contactless takeout or dining alfresco
Inside the hotel, guests will be treated to limited edition silkscreen prints by Gary Lichtenstein which are inspired by nearby Dixon Mills Pencil Factory and will be displayed in all 211 guest rooms. The corridors are brought to life with original acrylic paintings by abstract artist Candy Le Sueur and hand-made cyanotype prints by photographer Tatsuro Nishimura.
“As one of the most culturally diverse cities in the nation, Jersey City has an exciting and vibrant art scene that grows stronger and larger each year. We wanted to make sure our guests were able to see and feel the energy of the neighborhood through a robust arts program,” Canopy by Hilton’s art curator Stefania Panepinto said in a statement. “We are extremely proud of the art on display at the hotel – not only are the pieces created by locals but they each tell the story of Jersey City in their own unique matter.”
Located within Jersey City’s Powerhouse Arts District, three distinctive areas within the hotel collectively coined the “Canopy Central Art Studios” have been designed to give local artists a place to create new works while providing guests with a real-time opportunity to witness the creative process. Among them are a painting studio, a drafting studio and a photography and print studio.
A King Room starts at $146 per night. For more information or to make a reservation check out Canopy by Hilton Jersey City Arts District.
