A $4 Million Ticket To The Slopes At Truckee’s Northstar Resort

It’s a skier’s or snowboarder’s ultimate dream. Get up, get dressed, grab your season pass, head to the equipment room for your gear and then step outside. Groomed slopes are right at your door.

One of a six-home collection homes at Northstar California Resort, 14223 Mountainside Place, Truckee, is now for sale at $3.995 million.

Stellar Residence 3, as it is called, is set mid-mountain. The contemporary has long views of the Martis Valley, Lake Tahoe and the surrounding ranges as well as choice seating to watch the gondola lifts traveling up and back down the slopes.

The homes were designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the architecture firm behind the original New York City Apple Store. Topped by a glass cube, the outlet visually transformed a plaza surrounded by tall buildings.

The firm’s residential work shows a propensity toward sloped roofs with deep overhangs, glass walls and architecture that reveals nature.

Many of those design details are evident in this 3,381-square-foot home, which features a portion of angled roof, floor-to-ceiling windows and tall slanting ceilings. Horizontal strips of wood siding soften the ground floor exterior surfaces, which are delineated from the next level by metal bands.

The main floor, which accesses the two-car garage, opens to a foyer leading to the main living area with a fireplace. The kitchen features an eat-at center island, light wood cabinetry and dark counters.

The light-filled dining room has a wall of banquette seating. The primary en suite bedroom and a powder room are also on this level, which opens to a wide balcony.

Stairs lead down to the ground floor, which has three additional bedrooms and two more full bathrooms as well as a media room and a ski room for handy storage. There’s radiant heat throughout.

The indoor space connects to a two-level deck with a firepit for a convenient warming stop between runs. A nearby spa tub provides a spot to soothe sore muscles after a day on the slopes.

On-site amenities include a fitness center, a swimming pool and a sports court.
