The private rooftop deck is 1,580 square feet.Related California

A full-floor penthouse overlooking the Bay has come to market in The Avery building—and if it were to sell for the ask of $41 million, it would be the priciest condo on record for the Bay Area.

But it appears to be $7 million shy of the most expensive condo ever listed in the area, a duplex in the Lumina that once asked $49 million, and is $4 million lower than the current highest priced listing, a 9,500-square-foot, $45 million home in Russian Hill.

This four-bedroom, six-bath and two-and-a-half-bath unit sets another precedent with what is said to be the largest private rooftop terrace in the city with over 1,500 square feet of space providing 360 degree views.

The nearly 8,500-square-foot unit is on the 56th floor in the rapidly developing Transbay district that includes the Salesforce Tower, which became the tallest building on the San Francisco skyline upon its completion in 2018. Major employers in the Bay Area, such as Facebook, Google and Amazon, are also within walking distance. The Avery, designed by the OMA firm run by Pritzker Prize winner Rem Koolhaas, will have a total of 548 units that are mostly rentals. Only 118 condos, including six other half-floor penthouses, are available. The half-floor penthouses start at $15.95 million and the rest of the units start at over $1.5 million.

This penthouse is designed with public and private living in mind. The south side of the condo has the master bedroom positioned to take in the corner views, as well as the family room, gym, sauna and kitchen. On the other end of the unit are the remaining three bedrooms, a dining room, bar, secondary service kitchen and another living room designed for having people over without having to open up your private living spaces.

The amenities in the rest of the building include an Equinox-curated fitness center, 60-foot indoor lap pool, a professional grade demonstration kitchen, private formal dining room and bar, media lounge and game room, outdoor terrace. The building is also expected to attain LEED Gold Certification upon completion.
